Who are the Garifuna? They are decedents of West African slaves that assimilated with the Carib and Arawak populations of the Caribbean islands and therefore speak a native dialect called Garifuna. They have migrated all over Central America and have preserved their independent identity.
Thankfully, Andy Palacio & The Garifuna Collective are sharing their rich cultural heritage with their self titled album. There is never a wrong time to play these guys.
