Faytinga

Faytinga

Faytinga is a musician hailing from Eritrea. She used to be tegadelti, which in Tigrinya language means a liberation fighter or a guerilla soldier. In her seminal album titled ‘Eritrea’ she sings in Kunama, an ancient and isolate language of rapidly disappearing Kunama tribe and Tigrinya, the lingua franca of Eritrea. Prior to her, no one outside of Eritrea and Ethiopia had to privilege to hear Kunama music.
